Our company

Founded in Tokyo in 2005, The Plant develops web applications for companies large and small. For years, our client base expanded by word-of-mouth, as we became known for solving the unsolvable, on-time, on-budget, at speed, and at a highly competitive price point. We believe that the best results come from respecting the unique character of every company, with solutions tailored for their particular challenges. It’s an approach that’s brought some of the best names in the business to our team, as The Plant grows internationally working with some of the biggest names in food, fashion, news and retail.

From my perspective, the variety of cultures means that we have empathy. Empathy is important in a business environment as it allows us to understand and be flexible towards a variety of cultural practices.

Recently, I’ve gotten the opportunity to begin a new career with a software company in Tokyo called The Plant. Though my time here has been short, these past three months has made me think more than ever about work culture, and specifically about Japanese work culture.
